Chains, Shafts, & Belts

As you probably already know, your engine is responsible for delivering power and torque to your bike. However, it cannot accomplish this without functioning chains, shafts, and belts. The belts and chains transmit the torque to the tires, so it’s important to confirm they’re in good condition. Start by checking the chains and belts for tightness, which should be snug with a bit of slack. If you feel confident in your maintenance skills, you can tighten these on your own. Beginners who aren’t quite sure of their abilities should seek out a professional mechanic.

A good product to consider is our Chain Cleaner Chain Cleaner, which prepares your chain for reoiling. It’s safe to use on all types of drive chains. We carry various chain lubricants as well, including chain lube with moly and chain lube with white graphite. Don’t forget to check out the Shaft Drive Oil. This single-application hypoid gear oil is approved for use with Honda Gold Wing® motorcycles and types of other shaft-drive motorcycles. Always refer to your owner’s manual for detailed instructions on how to go about changing it.

Honda® GN4 4 stroke oil

Oil

It might seem like common sense, but it’s worth mentioning that checking and changing the oil in your motorcycle is just as crucial as it is with your vehicle. Remove the dipstick, clean it off, then reinsert it for a clear reading. Top the oil off as needed, but don’t forget you should also be examining the condition of the oil. If it’s sludgy or dark brown, it’s likely time to replace the oil and its filter.

Any metallic shavings or powder in your oil will require a visit to the mechanic. This could indicate that parts of your engine are grinding together, which needs to be addressed immediately. You’ll find all types of motor oils on our site, including two-stroke oil, four-stroke oil, and many more.

Battery

If ever your motorcycle doesn’t start, the natural first step is to check your battery. Maybe it just needs to be recharged. Although, if it’s old and out of juice, you’re going to need to consider replacing it. Additionally, if you recharge the battery and it’s still draining abnormally quickly, you might need to have your alternator looked at. When the time comes to replace your battery, use our online parts finder to purchase the one you need.

Windshield

It’s inevitable that when you ride your motorcycle, the windshield is going to get dirty. You’ll need an efficient way to wash off all the debris, mud, and bugs that are stuck on there. Fortunately, we have the perfect solution for you. Check out our Hondabrite universal cleaner. All you need to do is spray it on your windshield, allow it to sit for a few minutes, then wipe away the grime.

This product works well on all parts of your motorcycle and it’s an amazing time-saver, too. It cleans paint, chrome, alloy, and rubber surfaces. It’ll take you no more than a few minutes to use the Hondabrite universal cleaner and clean your entire motorcycle. Now, that’s impressive!
